Review: The Last Chai: Bringing the Nation to a Halt

The Last Chai: Bringing the Nation to a Halt by Varun T.
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blurb-

The year is 2019. The world, as we know today, is not the same anymore.

Blatant threats of war by ‘world leaders’ is the new normal. Gone are the days when mobilizing armies at borders, or aiming missiles at adversaries, was a rare phenomenon.

With every nation or their allies possessing nuclear weapons, victory through conventional means is no longer possible, paving way for covert warfare to emerge as the preferred weapon.

New Delhi is an easy target and Doshi, the unassailable supremo of the regime, is on the ‘hit list’. The threat assessment being at an all time high, Ajay Kaamte, the director of SPG (Special Protection Group), is tasked with protecting the PM.

Intelligence claims that the PM is susceptible to cyanide attacks and situation is grim, to say the least.

Will Doshiji survive to serve another term or will he very soon be having his last chai?

My views -

The Last Chai by Varun is an political thriller, the novel is really well researched and imagined in story wise. The story is deeply engrossed. It makes me to turn pages without sliding away.

The story is all about the breaking assassination threat to the Prime minister of India, story starts from breifing security systems of prime minister and pre-assassinations happened for him. Story moves on by stating the RAW, NSA and NSG's day to day workings.

While the NSG head Ajay had been arrested as Hassansin behind assassinating PM story starts to move many twists and turns who and why they intend to kill PM of India. How they planned and did they succeeded or not is an end result.

The story is must done beyond many research talking about many things like RAW, NSA and Morse code followed by them. Various places have been stated with exact informations.

The language is lucid and well suited for fast pace of narration. The knots and reasons behind them were are also written and way of carrying it makes read interesting.

Overall, The last chai is obviously a go to choice for thriller lovers. It will be a good read for sure. Also waiting for its squeal to know much more of Ajay's adventures.
