Parrot under the Pine Tree is the powerful expression of love. In the girl’s heart; it’s subtle, sublime and eternal. But in the boy’s heart; it’s earthy, insecure and restless. The anxiety brings the two young hearts close.

In the clean and tranquil environs of Kausani, Vedanta inadvertently meets Saranga under bizarre circumstances and both fall in love with each other. After a yearlong fairytale romance, they tie the sacred knot. And a few years later they are blessed with a son. But Alas! Their happiness doesn’t last long. On one fateful night, the young man falls prey to temptation. The storm that brews up in that night’s passion not only consumes his heart and soul but also shreds that of Saranga into pieces.

On the insistence of her grandma, whom Saranga holds in reverence, she agrees to give a second chance to a repentant Vedanta. But misgivings remain in her heart. The grandma asks her to go back to the place where she had fallen in love with Vedanta for the first time.

Will Kausani rework the magic again between the estranged couple?

My view -

The Parrot under the pine tree by Surendra Pratap Singh, an romantic fiction blended with love, soul searching, relationships and natural abundance of Kausani (Uttarakhand). It is one of the unique plot stating the love and purpose of life.

The story is a soulful love story of Vedanta and Saranga. Story starts from Vedanta making a trip to kausani in the act of searching his soul ended up meeting his soul mate Saranga there a fellow tourist. How they lead their life, What were the difficulties they found after marriage and How they redeemed it completes the story.

Though the genre is usual romance, the way author narrated is commendable the scenic beauty of Kausani makes me to fall in love with that place. The cover page always inspires the readers towards grabbing the book and this book has proved it. The cover is so beautiful and apt with large pine trees and Himalayan mountain behind which symbolizes the Kausani where the major part of story revolves.

The author receives a huge applause for beautifully explaining the purpose of life and how to lead life. The book is little slow paced but so steady in plot makes you to read in one go. The language used is simple and lucid.

Overall, The Parrot under the pine tree is a good and refreshing read. Will be really a good book to pass the time. There were many characters remembering all is little difficult but it also required for story so not much loopholes.
