Review: The Inquisitive

The Inquisitive by Hemant Kulkarni
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Blurb -

A young couple (Mohit Prajapati and Monica Prajapati) have recently shifted to Mumbai and are devoid of any acquaintances or friends in the new city. As they are in the process of settling down in their newly rented apartment. Mohits father had then made Mohit vow that he will never meet Glen again.

My views -

The Inquisitive by Hemant Kulkarni is a blend of suspense and mystery thriller. From the prologue to epilogue author constantly reminds the curiosity nature we tend to have sometimes by ourselves.

As the blurb states Mohit and his wife Monica moving to the new city Mumbai from their native Pune. By then Mohit happens to meet his very good friend Glen after years. So that he happens to have some new experiences via his old friend at the contemporary city.

Mohit character also reminds me of a quote where someone once rightly said about curiosity, "The cure for boredom is curiosity, there is no cure for curiosity".

The author has used the first person narration in the means of protagonist Mohit, where the author made the narrative looks easier with his lucid language and simple vocabularies. Characterization is where the story lacked a bit even though author justified characters of Mohit, Monica and Mohit's dad but Rucha, Nisha and Mohit's brother's characters could be given more space which would eventually justify the storyline more. Even keeping Glen's character mystery is quite acceptable for me.

Overall, The Inquisitive tells you the consequences of being more curiosity and bit of judge able yet made me turn the pages till last. Also been a short one sit read.
